Utility 34-1 took up a blocking position on the shoulder and right and lane and placed traffic cones to divert all traffic into the left land. Traffic cones were placed to slow and divert traffic into the left-hand lane. State Police shut down EB 422 in the area of the Saint Gabe's curve, until additional fire apparatus (Tankers) arrived on 422. Once EB 422 was completely shut down, FP34-1 met with State Police, and it was decided to allow the back log of traffic to flow slowly past the fire apparatus.
