Basics of Shoring and Structural Collapse Training

Tonight, members practiced some of the basics to shoring and structural collapse. As with much of our equipment and tools on our apparatus, they are not single use. Tonight members went over how to use our Paratech Fire & Rescue Equipment struts to set up various ways of shoring beams and doorways. Crews then practiced how to shore up an angled structure( Marine 34) using a wooden box crib. While some of this is similar in nature to how we work with vehicle rescue, some things are slightly different. Tonight’s training opened up the floor to many different conversations about how our equipment and personnel operate at a structural incident as well as other types of incidents. The flowing of information was incredible with many of our newer members jumping at the opportunity to participate as well as soak in information. Thank you to Firefighter Daniel Fabry for putting in a great training.
